Legal Compliance
1. Customs (Prohibited and Restricted Imports/Exports)
Based on the Customs (List of Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports) Order, 2009 (S.I. No. 127 of 2009), issued under the Customs Act, Cap. 66 Section 89 of Barbados.
1.1 Prohibited Items
- Counterfeit or substandard coinage
- Food declared unfit for human consumption
- Indecent or obscene articles (prints, paintings, photographs, books, etc.)
- Infected animals or animal parts (cattle, sheep, hides, skins, etc.)
- Prepared opium or smoking utensils
- Fictitious or counterfeit stamps (including production tools)
- Toy guns capable of explosions or gun-like sounds
- Fresh fruit or vegetables from Florida (USA) without phytosanitary certificate
- Ozone-depleting substances (HS heading Ex 29.03)
- Any goods prohibited by other Barbadian laws
1.2 Restricted Goods
- Arms and ammunition
- Cannabis sativa and derivatives
- Spirits and wines not bottled or in containers smaller than nine gallons
- Tobacco products (must be in sealed packaging)
- Tobacco extracts and essences
- Goods with the Royal Coat of Arms of Great Britain
- Ship/aircraft stores (only for onboard passenger/crew use)
- Ozone-depleting substances (HS Ex 29.03)
- Refrigerant blends (HS Ex 38.24)
- Goods restricted by other Barbadian laws
Additional Restrictions
- Fresh plants, seeds, fruits, vegetables → require permits and phytosanitary certificates
- Meat and meat products → require special permits and health certification
- Pets and animals → require Veterinary Services clearance and import permits
- Camouflage fabric items → prohibited unless for military use
2. Customs Act (Cap. 66) – Key Provisions
Section 26 – Entry of Goods
All imports must be entered with a true and correct invoice showing description, quantity, and value.
Sections 209 & 210 – False Declarations & Misstatements
False declarations or invoices are offences. Penalties include fines, seizure of goods, and prosecution.
Section 210 – Evasion of Customs Law
- Importing prohibited/restricted goods
- Unloading in violation of customs restrictions
- Concealing or harbouring restricted goods
- Defrauding revenue or evading duties
- Fraudulent evasion of customs laws
Penalty: Fine = three times the value of goods or $200 BBD (whichever greater). Goods involved will be forfeited.
3. Consumer Rights – Refunds & Redress
Under the Consumers Rights Act, Cap. 326E:
- No statutory right to a refund once a service has started and is being properly delivered.
- Refunds apply only if the service fails to meet guarantees.
Guarantees (Sections 29–32)
- Reasonable care and skill
- Fit for purpose or intended result
- Completed within reasonable time
- Reasonably priced
Section 33 gives consumers the right to cancel contracts if services fail to meet these guarantees.
4. Data Protection
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019-29:
- Data must be collected only for stated purposes.
- Customers must be informed of what data is collected, why, and for how long.
- Data cannot be used beyond the scope of consent.
- Privacy Policy must disclose these practices.
5. Payment Transparency
- No obligation to provide breakdowns if pricing is fair and not deceptive.
- If online payments are introduced, Legal Compliance documents must be updated.
At ShipD International, we can ship almost anything — from as small as a pin to as large as your biggest freight. However, certain items are strictly prohibited from shipment due to safety, legal, and regulatory requirements.
We take compliance seriously, and these restrictions help ensure the safety of our customers, partners, and the communities we serve.
Prohibited Items
The following items will not be accepted for shipment under any circumstances:

Cash – including currency, coins, and negotiable instruments.

Drugs – including illegal narcotics and controlled substances.

Prohibited or restricted items under U.S. law or the destination country’s regulations – this includes any items that may be illegal or require special permits.
Reporting & Enforcement
Any attempt to ship prohibited items is a serious violation of our terms. Offending shipments will be stopped immediately, and violations will be reported to the relevant authorities in both the U.S. and the destination country where applicable.
Important Reminder
While we are able to transport a wide variety of items — from tiny packages to large freight — all shipments must comply with U.S. laws, international regulations, and our company policies.
